Replacement of railway bridge in Leeuwarden is cancelled

The plan to replace the HRMK railway bridge near Leeuwarden with an aqueduct is canceled. That is one of the choices the cabinet is making to deal with billions in infrastructure shortfalls, sources from The Hague report. The HRMK bridge is located on the southwest side of Leeuwarden and runs over the Van Harinxma Canal in the direction of Heerenveen. More than 80 million euros was available from the national government for the project.
