Who we are
HelloLWD is a local news and weekend briefing started by NHL Stenden students in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. Contact: [email protected].
What we process
We do not run user accounts, comments, newsletters or ads. We do not sell data. On our server we store public RSS items (headline, short summary, source link, photo URL, category) and curated weekend events so the site can show them. Your browser does not send us a visitor profile. If you email us, we only keep what you wrote so we can reply.
Cookies and local storage
Language lives in the URL (/nl, /en, /es, /fa), not in a tracking cookie. Light or dark theme is stored in localStorage and in a first-party cookie named theme (one year) so the page does not flash. The admin desk sets a first-party cookie named hellolwd_admin after login; that cookie is only for people who edit the site.
Other services
News comes from the public RSS of Omrop Fryslân, Omroep Leeuwarden, LC.nl and NOS. We always link back to the original article. Weather for Leeuwarden is fetched on our server from Open-Meteo. SC Cambuur scores and the Eredivisie table are fetched on our server from ESPN. Translations may be made on our server with Google AI Studio (Gemini) and, if that quota is empty, other machine-translation services. Those requests leave our server. They are not sent from your browser.

If you think we hold personal data about you, you can ask for access, correction or deletion at [email protected]. You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
