Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Amsterdam for a large-scale climate march. Walking from Dam Square to Museumplein, participants highlighted the climate crisis. They demanded an immediate end to fossil fuels and called for an accelerated transition to clean energy.

The municipality of Leeuwarden has launched its search for a new mayor, and local residents will be able to share their input. The official appointment process involves fourteen steps. The entire procedure is expected to take about eight months.

Volunteers help them with activities such as going outside and making social connections. This initiative ensures that these youth do not have to face their challenges alone.

By removing enclosed seating structures, historic facades and the canal will become visible again. The redevelopment of the northern Nieuwestad begins at the end of October and is expected to be completed in 2027.
According to Statistics Netherlands, healthcare support costs under the Wmo in Leeuwarden have risen to over 100 million euros. Last year, 10,340 residents used services such as household help or mobility aids, up from 95 million euros in spending in 2022. These rising social support expenses are placing an increasing burden on the municipal budget.
Volunteer helpline De Luisterlijn must make significant budget cuts, potentially closing a third of its locations and scrapping part of its professional support. Although the offices in Leeuwarden and Groningen will stay open, they will also feel the impact of the measures.
