Student movement wins Serbian elections. The Student List in Serbia won the most votes in the parliamentary elections. The party emerged from massive anti-government protests. Jeroen Breidenbach from Leeuwarden was named Teacher of the Year last year at the age of 33. He shares his passion for nature and birds with his students. Breidenbach considers the recognition from his own students to be especially meaningful.

This year, more than thirty students have enrolled in the Frisian teacher training programme at NHL Stenden. That is more than double compared to previous years. This concerns two full-time students, sixteen who do the programme part-time and another sixteen who follow part of the programme as a minor. "When you are 16 or 17 years old, you often do not know that you want to become a Frisian teacher," says Babs Gezelle Meerburg, teacher trainer at NHL Stenden.

Tens of thousands of people died in European cities last summer as a result of the extreme heat. Scientists from Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine made this estimate.
