N48 road near Zuidwolde closed all day after fatal crash

The N48 road near Zuidwolde in Drenthe is expected to remain closed all day, according to the ANWB. Yesterday, a crash involving three trucks and three cars occurred there, killing two truck drivers. The victims are a 53-year-old man from Hardenberg and a 56-year-old man of no fixed address in the Netherlands. Following the accident, the road was littered with household waste carried by one of the trucks.

The N48 near Zuidwolde in Drenthe is expected to remain closed all day, reports the ANWB. Yesterday there was an accident with three trucks and three cars, in which two truck drivers were killed. This concerns a 53-year-old man from Hardenberg and a 56-year-old man with no fixed place of residence or abode in the Netherlands. After the accident, the road was littered with household waste transported by one of the trucks. Last night, a part of the road has been re-paved. Even today, Rijkswaterstaat is still busy with cleaning up and repair work. Rijkswaterstaat expects to clear the road again this evening. The damage after the accident: The 21-year-old truck driver Jesse from Nieuwleusen was involved in the accident. He saw from his cabin how the truck in front of him collided head-on with a truck driving in the opposite direction. “I saw a thick dust cloud and before I knew it, I got part of the container from a truck through the windscreen, "Jesse tells RTV Drenthe. The driver sustained minor injuries. The drivers of the passenger cars were not injured. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
