Surinamese internationals still losing Dutch citizenship despite legal change

Surinamese-Dutch footballers still risk losing their Dutch citizenship if they choose to represent the Surinamese national team. A recent legal amendment in Suriname has not resolved the ongoing passport uncertainty for these players. Earlier this year, several internationals automatically lost their Dutch nationality after acquiring another citizenship.
