Leeuwarden Sees Social Support Spending Rise Sharply

According to Statistics Netherlands, healthcare support costs under the Wmo in Leeuwarden have risen to over 100 million euros. Last year, 10,340 residents used services such as household help or mobility aids, up from 95 million euros in spending in 2022. These rising social support expenses are placing an increasing burden on the municipal budget.
