Houtribdijk may be closed for heavy trucks for years from October 21

The Houtribdijk between Enkhuizen and Lelystad will be closed from October 21 for vehicles weighing more than 15 tons, or 15,000 kilograms. Rijkswaterstaat reports this in a press release. It was announced a month ago that the dike had to be closed, but the date had yet to be determined. The measure is being introduced because the movable bridges on the dike near Lelystad are in poor condition: cracks were found during inspections by Rijkswaterstaat.
