Rainbows and orange skies: why the weather is so colourful now

It is easy to notice that we are on our way to autumn outside: the days are getting shorter quickly and the air is often humid. The combination of shorter days and a lot of moisture in the atmosphere ensures that the weather in the months of September and October is usually very colorful, with rainbows, halos and colorful sunrises and sunsets. Humid air with a low sun occurs mainly in autumn, when the days are already short, but the temperature is still high. This is because the temperature in the Netherlands does not match the length of the days.
