Number of abortions in the Netherlands increased slightly last year

The number of abortions in the Netherlands increased slightly in 2025 compared to the year before. This is evident from annual figures from the Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ). A total of 39,931 women had an abortion last year, compared to 39,438 a year earlier. There are 493 more, an increase of 1.25 percent.
