The Cabinet wants shorter unemployment benefits, but that hardly results in additional jobs

Shortening the maximum duration of an unemployment benefit to one year does not ensure that many people return to work quickly. Only 8,000 people with unemployment benefits will have a new full-time job after that period, according to the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. According to the CPB, the government plan to reduce unemployment does provide the government with money, but at the same time the planning office speaks of "a limited increase in the structural employment".
