Significantly more Dutch people killed by falls: an average of 21 per day

Last year, many more Dutch people died as a result of a fall than the year before. A total of 7810 people died after falling, tripping or slipping. In 2024, about 480 fewer people died, according to Statistics Netherlands. The number of Dutch people who die after a fall has been increasing for years, even if account is taken of the fact that there are more elderly people due to ageing, for whom a fall is more often fatal.
