Two cleaning companies with locations in Amsterdam and Zaandam have been fined a total of 700,000 euros. Employees were found to be paid in cash and the employers did not have their payroll records in order. This has been announced by the Dutch Labour Inspectorate. The inspection service seized the ability of the two companies to collect the fines. The research also focuses on a hotel chain and an accountant. This check has not yet been completed. The names of the companies involved have not been disclosed. During the check in a hotel, bags of money were found. Cleaners were paid black for their work. The companies were unable to prove that dozens of employees were employed. This left it unclear whether they were paid the statutory minimum wage. Seventeen employees became clear that they were working without a permit. The Labour Inspectorate concludes that the Foreign Nationals Act was thus violated.
