Starting tomorrow, Blood Bank Sanquin will test all blood donations in nine provinces for infection with the West Nile virus. The reason is that someone in the Netherlands died from the virus, after the victim had received blood from a Sanquin donor who had contracted the virus due to a mosquito bite. Whether the virus is the cause of death, or a fragile health, is not clear. Sanquin considers nine Dutch provinces as west Nile virus risk area.
