NOS Binnenland

Rivers are now so low that skippers have to assess for themselves whether sailing still succeeds

The water levels in the east of the Netherlands are now so low that it is unclear whether ships can still sail there. On the IJssel, the Lower Rhine and a large part of the Waal, it is no longer possible to properly measure whether it is still possible to sail safely. That's what Rijkswaterstaat says to the NOS. Inland waterway skippers will now have to decide for themselves whether they can sail safely or not.
