New railway bridge in Harlingen cheaper than replacing 164-year-old foundation

ProRail will completely replace the railway bridge over the Zuidergracht in Harlingen in the coming years. Research shows that building a new bridge is cheaper than repairing the wooden foundation dating back to 1862. The current bridge structure, installed in 1999, is also in need of major maintenance.
