Leeuwarden aims for open terraces on redesigned Nieuwestad

The municipality of Leeuwarden wants outdoor terraces along the Nieuwestad to become more open and uncluttered. By removing enclosed seating structures, historic facades and the canal will become visible again. The redevelopment of the northern Nieuwestad begins at the end of October and is expected to be completed in 2027.
