Handel and the Frisian Nassaus meet in Leeuwarden

The Grote of Jacobijnerkerk forms the backdrop for a special musical encounter with history on Saturday 24 October. There, the Apollo Ensemble performs Il Parnasso in Festa by Georg Friedrich Händel. The work was written almost three hundred years ago on the occasion of the marriage of Princess Anna of Hanover and William IV of Orange-Nassau, the Frisian stadtholder.
